The annual Grainne Uaile Festival takes place on the August Bank Holiday weekend in Newport, County Mayo and includes live music streets, art & crafts displays, street entertainment and lots of family friendly events.
This traditional Irish street festival has been held in Newport, County Mayo, over the August bank holiday weekend, for as long as the locals can remember!
Every year, the streets overflow with locals and visitors from near and far. With lots on display, why not take a walk amongst the street to enjoy the traditional crafts on display, dance and listen to traditional Irish music on the streets, take part in the wonkey donkey derby or some of the many other events taking place throughout the weekend.
Come along and sample some of the many top quality food stalls offering locally produced artisan foods and drinks. Why not try some traditional local ‘boxty’ or pop in for a drink in one of the traditional pubs. With so many food and drink options to choose from you’ll be spoilt for choice.
This Family Friendly Festival includes; live music for three nights Friday to Sunday and a variety of free events and activities for people of all ages. There’s something for everyone!
The annual Grainne Uaile Festival has developed into a long weekend of entertainment and activities for young and old, with special events for children and families. Over the years there has been bail rolling competitions, pig racing, water activities, traditional Irish music, live bands, dancing and much much more. It is a popular time for returning emigrants to the area as there’s always plenty to see and enjoy over the four days.
